About the tides at Point Barrow

This is a mixed-tide station. Some days bring a deep low and a shallow low, and a few days have only one of each. The pattern follows the reference station at KODIAK, Womens Bay. Water here rises and falls only about 0.3 ft on an average day. A strong onshore wind can push levels above the prediction. That is smaller than most Alaska stations on this site. Over the next two weeks the biggest daily range, 0.4 ft, comes today, and the smallest, 0.2 ft, on Friday.

Tides here are worked out from the reference station at KODIAK, Womens Bay, with NOAA time and height corrections. Times are good for planning, but local wind can shift them. The nearest other station is Barrow Offshore, 8 mi away, where high tide comes about 43 min earlier.
