About the tides at Port Ivory

Expect two roughly equal high tides a day at Arthur Kill, each arriving about 50 minutes later than the day before. The pattern follows the reference station at Sandy Hook. On a typical day the water moves about 4.9 ft between high and low. Over the next two weeks the biggest daily range, 6.3 ft, comes on October 25, and the smallest, 3.4 ft, on Sunday. Looking a year ahead, predictions peak at 6.9 ft on August 2 and bottom out at −1.5 ft on January 23.

Tides here are worked out from the reference station at Sandy Hook, with NOAA time and height corrections. Times are good for planning, but local wind can shift them. NOAA measured the tide here from 1976 to 1977 to set up these predictions. The nearest other station is Bayonne Bridge, 2 mi away. For tidal currents, see Elizabethport.

Predictions are based on Sandy Hook.
