About the tides at Quantico
Quantico has a semidiurnal tide: two highs and two lows of similar height each day, about 12 hours and 25 minutes apart. The mean range is small, about 1.2 ft, so wind and pressure can matter as much as the tide itself. That is smaller than most Virginia stations on this site. The next spring tides peak on October 10, with a range of 1.6 ft. Neap tides follow on Friday, when the range shrinks to 1.0 ft.
Quantico is a subordinate station, so NOAA publishes only its high and low times and heights. The nearest other station is Liverpool Point, 4 mi away, where high tide comes about 13 min later. For tidal currents, see Quantico.
Tide predictions and water levels from NOAA CO-OPS. For planning only, not for navigation. Real water levels can differ because of wind, air pressure and river flow. Always check conditions on site.
