About the tides at Queen Isabella Causeway (east end)

Most days here have a single high and a single low. Around neap tides the pattern can blur into small double tides. The pattern follows the reference station at PADRE ISLAND (south end). The mean range is small, about 1.1 ft, so wind and pressure can matter as much as the tide itself. The next spring tides peak tomorrow, with a range of 2.1 ft. Neap tides follow on October 8, when the range shrinks to 0.8 ft.

Queen Isabella Causeway (east end) is a subordinate station. NOAA predicts its tides by adjusting PADRE ISLAND (south end): highs come about 24 min and lows about 21 min later than there. NOAA measured the tide here from 1976 to 1978 to set up these predictions. The nearest other station is South Padre Island C.G. Station, 0.4 mi away, where high tide comes about 48 min later. For tidal currents, see Laguna Madre Channel, NE end.

Predictions are based on PADRE ISLAND (south end).
