About the tides at South Padre Island

South Padre Island usually gets one high and one low tide a day, known as a diurnal tide. Water here rises and falls only about 1.2 ft on an average day. A strong onshore wind can push levels above the prediction. From the average lower low to the average higher high, the difference is 1.5 ft. Over the next two weeks the biggest daily range, 2.3 ft, comes on October 28, and the smallest, 0.6 ft, on Thursday. Looking a year ahead, predictions peak at 2.3 ft on October 29 and bottom out at −1.1 ft on January 21.
