About the tides at Redfish Point
This is a mixed-tide station. Some days bring a deep low and a shallow low, and a few days have only one of each. The pattern follows the reference station at St. Petersburg, Tampa Bay. The mean range is small, about 1.7 ft, so wind and pressure can matter as much as the tide itself. From the average lower low to the average higher high, the difference is 2.3 ft. The next spring tides peak on October 26, with a range of 2.5 ft. Neap tides follow on October 22, when the range shrinks to 1.2 ft. In the next 12 months the highest predicted tide here is 2.8 ft on July 4, and the lowest is −1.0 ft on January 21.
Redfish Point is a subordinate station. NOAA predicts its tides by adjusting St. Petersburg, Tampa Bay: highs come about 30 min earlier and lows about 14 min later than there. NOAA measured the tide here in 1977 to set up these predictions. The nearest other station is Ellenton, 3 mi away, where high tide comes about 17 min earlier. For tidal currents, see Harbor Key, 1.3 miles west of.
Predictions are based on St. Petersburg, Tampa Bay.
