About the tides at Roane Point
Roane Point has a mixed tide. The two daily highs, and especially the two lows, can differ a lot in height. The pattern follows the reference station at Sewells Point, Hampton Roads. On a typical day the water moves about 2.8 ft between high and low. Over the next two weeks the biggest daily range, 3.6 ft, comes today, and the smallest, 2.1 ft, on October 19. Looking a year ahead, predictions peak at 4.0 ft on September 30 and bottom out at −0.7 ft on January 23.
Tides here are worked out from the reference station at Sewells Point, Hampton Roads, with NOAA time and height corrections. Times are good for planning, but local wind can shift them. The nearest other station is West Point, 8 mi away, where high tide comes about 25 min later. For tidal currents, see Purtan Island, 0.2 mile southwest of.
Predictions are based on Sewells Point, Hampton Roads.
