About the tides at Saint-Jean-Port-Joli

This is a mixed-tide station. Some days bring a deep low and a shallow low, and a few days have only one of each. The tide range here is very large, about 3.73 m on average. Water can come in faster than you can walk across flats. Check the time before you go out. That is larger than most Quebec stations on this site.

This is a prediction station. CHS calculates its tides from past measurements at this spot, but there is no live gauge today. It was established in 1917. The nearest other station is Saint-Bernard-sur-Mer, 24 km away, where high tide comes about 32 min earlier. Canadian tide heights use chart datum, a level set low on purpose. Negative heights are uncommon.
