About the tides at Scotch Cap

This is a mixed-tide station. Some days bring a deep low and a shallow low, and a few days have only one of each. On a typical day the water moves about 4.0 ft between high and low. That is smaller than most Alaska stations on this site. From the average lower low to the average higher high, the difference is 6.2 ft. Over the next two weeks the biggest daily range, 8.5 ft, comes on October 27, and the smallest, 4.1 ft, on Monday. Looking a year ahead, predictions peak at 8.3 ft on December 24 and bottom out at −2.3 ft on July 4.
