About the tides at Silver Bay

Silver Bay has a semidiurnal tide: two highs and two lows of similar height each day, about 12 hours and 25 minutes apart. The pattern follows the reference station at Sandy Hook, Fort Hancock. The mean range is small, about 0.4 ft, so wind and pressure can matter as much as the tide itself. That is smaller than most New Jersey stations on this site. The next spring tides peak on Saturday, with a range of 0.5 ft. Neap tides follow on October 17, when the range shrinks to 0.2 ft. In the next 12 months the highest predicted tide here is 0.5 ft on July 5, and the lowest is −0.1 ft on January 23.

Silver Bay is a subordinate station. NOAA predicts its tides by adjusting Sandy Hook, Fort Hancock: highs come about 266 min and lows about 279 min later than there.
