About the tides at Skan Bay
Tides here are mixed. On average the two daily highs differ by 0.5 ft, so check which low is the lower one before you head out. The pattern follows the reference station at Unalaska. On a typical day the water moves about 2.2 ft between high and low. That is smaller than most Alaska stations on this site. Looking a year ahead, predictions peak at 5.3 ft on December 23 and bottom out at −1.7 ft on June 6.
Tides here are worked out from the reference station at Unalaska, with NOAA time and height corrections. Times are good for planning, but local wind can shift them. The nearest other station is Anderson Bay, 10 mi away, where high tide comes about 6 min later.
Predictions are based on Unalaska.
Tide predictions and water levels from NOAA CO-OPS. For planning only, not for navigation. Real water levels can differ because of wind, air pressure and river flow. Always check conditions on site.
