About the tides at Sluice Creek
Sluice Creek has a mixed tide. The two daily highs, and especially the two lows, can differ a lot in height. The pattern follows the reference station at Lewes, Ft. Miles. On a typical day the water moves about 4.7 ft between high and low. Over the next two weeks the biggest daily range, 6.9 ft, comes on October 28, and the smallest, 3.6 ft, today. Looking a year ahead, predictions peak at 6.8 ft on August 2 and bottom out at −1.3 ft on January 23.
Tides here are worked out from the reference station at Lewes, Ft. Miles, with NOAA time and height corrections. Times are good for planning, but local wind can shift them. NOAA measured the tide here in 1978 to set up these predictions. The nearest other station is Dennis Creek, 2 mi away, where high tide comes about 54 min earlier. For tidal currents, see Bay Shore Channel (north).
Predictions are based on Lewes, Ft. Miles.
