About the tides at Bidwell Creek

This is a mixed-tide station. Some days bring a deep low and a shallow low, and a few days have only one of each. The pattern follows the reference station at Lewes, Ft. Miles. With a mean range of about 5.2 ft, the shoreline here changes a lot between high and low water. That is larger than most New Jersey stations on this site. Over the next two weeks the biggest daily range, 7.7 ft, comes on October 28, and the smallest, 4.3 ft, today. Looking a year ahead, predictions peak at 7.6 ft on August 2 and bottom out at −1.4 ft on January 23.

Tides here are worked out from the reference station at Lewes, Ft. Miles, with NOAA time and height corrections. Times are good for planning, but local wind can shift them. NOAA measured the tide here in 1978 to set up these predictions. The nearest other station is Bidwell Creek entrance, 1 mi away, where high tide comes about 14 min earlier.
