About the tides at Snipe Keys

This is a mixed-tide station. Some days bring a deep low and a shallow low, and a few days have only one of each. The pattern follows the reference station at Key West. The mean range is small, about 1.7 ft, so wind and pressure can matter as much as the tide itself. From the average lower low to the average higher high, the difference is 2.2 ft. In the next 12 months the highest predicted tide here is 3.2 ft on October 29, and the lowest is −0.6 ft on January 21.

Snipe Keys is a subordinate station. NOAA predicts its tides by adjusting Key West: highs come about 205 min and lows about 339 min later than there. NOAA measured the tide here in 1974 to set up these predictions. The nearest other station is Snipe Keys, Middle Narrows, 1 mi away, where high tide comes about 19 min later. For tidal currents, see Loggerhead Key, East of.

Predictions are based on Key West.

Tide predictions and water levels from NOAA CO-OPS. For planning only, not for navigation. Real water levels can differ because of wind, air pressure and river flow. Always check conditions on site.
