About the tides at Snowhill
Tides here follow a regular twice-daily rhythm. The two daily highs usually differ by only 0.2 ft. The mean range is small, about 1.6 ft, so wind and pressure can matter as much as the tide itself. That is larger than most Maryland stations on this site. From the average lower low to the average higher high, the difference is 1.9 ft. The next spring tides peak on Friday, with a range of 1.4 ft. Neap tides follow on October 19, when the range shrinks to 1.2 ft. In the next 12 months the highest predicted tide here is 1.9 ft on November 27, and the lowest is 0.2 ft on January 21.
This is a prediction station. NOAA calculates its tides from past measurements at this spot, but there is no live gauge today. NOAA measured the tide here from 2005 to 2010 to set up these predictions. The nearest other station is Public Landing, 6 mi away, where high tide comes about 4 h 40 m earlier.
Tide predictions and water levels from NOAA CO-OPS. For planning only, not for navigation. Real water levels can differ because of wind, air pressure and river flow. Always check conditions on site.
