About the tides at South Dewees Island

Tides here follow a regular twice-daily rhythm. The two daily highs usually differ by only 0.7 ft. The pattern follows the reference station at Charleston, Cooper River Entrance. The average range is about 4.9 ft. Spring tides add a little more at both ends. From the average lower low to the average higher high, the difference is 5.5 ft. The next spring tides peak on October 28, with a range of 6.5 ft. Neap tides follow today, when the range shrinks to 3.9 ft.
