About the tides at St. George Island, 12th St. W (Bayside)
St. George Island, 12th St. W (Bayside) has a mixed tide. The two daily highs, and especially the two lows, can differ a lot in height. The pattern follows the reference station at Apalachicola, Apalachicola River. Water here rises and falls only about 1.5 ft on an average day. A strong onshore wind can push levels above the prediction. From the average lower low to the average higher high, the difference is 2.2 ft. Over the next two weeks the biggest daily range, 2.4 ft, comes today, and the smallest, 1.2 ft, on October 22. Looking a year ahead, predictions peak at 2.8 ft on October 1 and bottom out at −1.4 ft on January 21.
Tides here are worked out from the reference station at Apalachicola, Apalachicola River, with NOAA time and height corrections. Times are good for planning, but local wind can shift them. NOAA measured the tide here in 1973 to set up these predictions. The nearest other station is St. George Island, Sikes Cut, 5 mi away, where high tide comes about 5 min later.
Predictions are based on Apalachicola, Apalachicola River.
