About the tides at Stag Island

Stag Island has a semidiurnal tide: two highs and two lows of similar height each day, about 12 hours and 25 minutes apart. The range is large, about 1.85 m on average. Flats and bars appear and vanish quickly, so keep an eye on the time. The next spring tides peak tomorrow, with a range of 2.57 m. Neap tides follow on October 7, when the range shrinks to 1.77 m.

This is a prediction station. CHS calculates its tides from past measurements at this spot, but there is no live gauge today. It was established in 1912. The nearest other station is Charlton Island, 41 km away, where high tide comes about 1 h 14 m earlier. Canadian tide heights use chart datum, a level set low on purpose. Negative heights are uncommon.
