About the tides at Steamboat Slough
This is a mixed-tide station. Some days bring a deep low and a shallow low, and a few days have only one of each. The pattern follows the reference station at Port Chicago, Suisun Bay. The average range is about 2.9 ft. Spring tides add a little more at both ends. That is smaller than most California stations on this site. The next spring tides peak tomorrow, with a range of 3.9 ft. Neap tides follow on October 19, when the range shrinks to 2.9 ft. In the next 12 months the highest predicted tide here is 4.9 ft on July 4, and the lowest is −0.4 ft on December 26.
Steamboat Slough is a subordinate station. NOAA predicts its tides by adjusting Port Chicago, Suisun Bay: highs come about 144 min and lows about 168 min later than there. NOAA measured the tide here from 1978 to 1992 to set up these predictions. The nearest other station is Rio Vista, 3 mi away, where high tide comes about 35 min earlier.
