About the tides at Sweetwater

Expect two roughly equal high tides a day at Upper Mullica River, each arriving about 50 minutes later than the day before. The pattern follows the reference station at Sandy Hook. The average range is about 2.5 ft. Spring tides add a little more at both ends. That is smaller than most New Jersey stations on this site. The next spring tides peak on October 27, with a range of 3.6 ft. Neap tides follow today, when the range shrinks to 1.9 ft. In the next 12 months the highest predicted tide here is 3.6 ft on August 2, and the lowest is −0.7 ft on January 23.

Sweetwater is a subordinate station. NOAA predicts its tides by adjusting Sandy Hook: highs come about 203 min and lows about 261 min later than there. NOAA measured the tide here in 1978 to set up these predictions. The nearest other station is Green Bank, 3 mi away, where high tide comes about 24 min earlier.
