About the tides at Chestnut Neck Boat Yard

Expect two roughly equal high tides a day at Cramers Boatyard, Mullica River, each arriving about 50 minutes later than the day before. The pattern follows the reference station at Sandy Hook. On a typical day the water moves about 2.9 ft between high and low. That is smaller than most New Jersey stations on this site. From the average lower low to the average higher high, the difference is 3.4 ft. Over the next two weeks the biggest daily range, 3.7 ft, comes on October 25, and the smallest, 1.6 ft, on October 20. Looking a year ahead, predictions peak at 4.0 ft on August 2 and bottom out at −1.1 ft on January 23.

Tides here are worked out from the reference station at Sandy Hook, with NOAA time and height corrections. Times are good for planning, but local wind can shift them. NOAA measured the tide here from 1977 to 1978 to set up these predictions. The nearest other station is Nacote Creek, 0.9 mi away, where high tide comes about 7 min later.
