About the tides at Tavernier Harbor

Expect two roughly equal high tides a day at Tavernier Hawk Channel, each arriving about 50 minutes later than the day before. The pattern follows the reference station at Government Cut, Miami Harbor Entrance. The average range is about 2.0 ft. Spring tides add a little more at both ends. That is larger than most Florida stations on this site. From the average lower low to the average higher high, the difference is 2.3 ft. The next spring tides peak tomorrow, with a range of 2.7 ft. Neap tides follow on October 19, when the range shrinks to 0.9 ft. In the next 12 months the highest predicted tide here is 3.0 ft on September 29, and the lowest is −1.1 ft on January 23.

Tavernier Harbor is a subordinate station. NOAA predicts its tides by adjusting Government Cut, Miami Harbor Entrance: highs come about 7 min and lows about 26 min later than there. NOAA measured the tide here from 1970 to 1975 to set up these predictions. The nearest other station is Plantation Key, 3 mi away.

Predictions are based on Government Cut, Miami Harbor Entrance.
