About the tides at The Kitchen

This is a mixed-tide station. Some days bring a deep low and a shallow low, and a few days have only one of each. The pattern follows the reference station at St. Petersburg. Water here rises and falls only about 1.8 ft on an average day. A strong onshore wind can push levels above the prediction. From the average lower low to the average higher high, the difference is 2.4 ft. Over the next two weeks the biggest daily range, 2.8 ft, comes on October 14, and the smallest, 1.9 ft, tomorrow. Looking a year ahead, predictions peak at 3.3 ft on July 4 and bottom out at −0.9 ft on January 21.

Tides here are worked out from the reference station at St. Petersburg, with NOAA time and height corrections. Times are good for planning, but local wind can shift them. NOAA measured the tide here from 1977 to 1979 to set up these predictions. The nearest other station is Newman Branch, 3 mi away, where high tide comes about 10 min later. For tidal currents, see Alafia River ent., 1.2 miles west of.

Predictions are based on St. Petersburg.

Tide predictions and water levels from NOAA CO-OPS. For planning only, not for navigation. Real water levels can differ because of wind, air pressure and river flow. Always check conditions on site.
