About the tides at Piney Point

Expect two roughly equal high tides a day at Potomac River, each arriving about 50 minutes later than the day before. The pattern follows the reference station at Washington, Potomac River. The mean range is small, about 1.3 ft, so wind and pressure can matter as much as the tide itself. The next spring tides peak on October 27, with a range of 1.7 ft.
