About the tides at Unavikshak Island

This is a mixed-tide station. Some days bring a deep low and a shallow low, and a few days have only one of each. The pattern follows the reference station at KODIAK, Womens Bay. With a mean range of about 6.9 ft, the shoreline here changes a lot between high and low water. From the average lower low to the average higher high, the difference is 9.1 ft. Over the next two weeks the biggest daily range, 11.2 ft, comes on Sunday, and the smallest, 4.9 ft, on October 15. Looking a year ahead, predictions peak at 11.9 ft on December 24 and bottom out at −3.1 ft on July 5.

Tides here are worked out from the reference station at KODIAK, Womens Bay, with NOAA time and height corrections. Times are good for planning, but local wind can shift them. NOAA measured the tide here in 1997 to set up these predictions. The nearest other station is Nakchamik Island, 10 mi away.
