About the tides at Vaca Key

This is a mixed-tide station. Some days bring a deep low and a shallow low, and a few days have only one of each. The mean range is small, about 0.7 ft, so wind and pressure can matter as much as the tide itself. That is smaller than most Florida stations on this site. From the average lower low to the average higher high, the difference is 1.0 ft. The next spring tides peak on Thursday, with a range of 1.2 ft. Neap tides follow on October 22, when the range shrinks to 0.4 ft. In the next 12 months the highest predicted tide here is 1.6 ft on October 30, and the lowest is −0.6 ft on March 13.
