About the tides at Weehawken
Tides here follow a regular twice-daily rhythm. The two daily highs usually differ by only 0.6 ft. The pattern follows the reference station at The Battery, New York Harbor. On a typical day the water moves about 4.2 ft between high and low. Over the next two weeks the biggest daily range, 6.1 ft, comes on October 27, and the smallest, 3.2 ft, tomorrow. Looking a year ahead, predictions peak at 6.0 ft on August 2 and bottom out at −1.3 ft on January 23.
Tides here are worked out from the reference station at The Battery, New York Harbor, with NOAA time and height corrections. Times are good for planning, but local wind can shift them. NOAA measured the tide here from 1976 to 1980 to set up these predictions. The nearest other station is East 41st Street, 3 mi away, where high tide comes about 50 min later. For tidal currents, see Hudson River, Pier 92.
Predictions are based on The Battery, New York Harbor.
