About the tides at Westport Harbor

Westport Harbor has a semidiurnal tide: two highs and two lows of similar height each day, about 12 hours and 25 minutes apart. The pattern follows the reference station at Newport, Narragansett Bay. The average range is about 2.8 ft. Spring tides add a little more at both ends. That is smaller than most Massachusetts stations on this site. In the next 12 months the highest predicted tide here is 4.2 ft on September 2, and the lowest is −0.7 ft on January 23.

Westport Harbor is a subordinate station. NOAA predicts its tides by adjusting Newport, Narragansett Bay: highs come about 9 min and lows about 33 min later than there. The nearest other station is Hix Bridge, 4 mi away, where high tide comes about 1 h 31 m later. For tidal currents, see Westport River entrance.

Predictions are based on Newport, Narragansett Bay.
