About the tides at Yonges Island

Yonges Island has a semidiurnal tide: two highs and two lows of similar height each day, about 12 hours and 25 minutes apart. The pattern follows the reference station at Charleston, Cooper River Entrance. The range is large, about 6.5 ft on average. Flats and bars appear and vanish quickly, so keep an eye on the time. From the average lower low to the average higher high, the difference is 7.1 ft. The next spring tides peak on October 27, with a range of 8.6 ft. Neap tides follow tomorrow, when the range shrinks to 4.9 ft. In the next 12 months the highest predicted tide here is 8.6 ft on October 1, and the lowest is −1.7 ft on January 23.

Yonges Island is a subordinate station. NOAA predicts its tides by adjusting Charleston, Cooper River Entrance: highs come about 82 min and lows about 45 min later than there.
