About the tides at Lower Toogoodoo Creek
Lower Toogoodoo Creek has a semidiurnal tide: two highs and two lows of similar height each day, about 12 hours and 25 minutes apart. The pattern follows the reference station at Charleston, Cooper River Entrance. With a mean range of about 6.7 ft, the shoreline here changes a lot between high and low water. That is larger than most South Carolina stations on this site. From the average lower low to the average higher high, the difference is 7.3 ft. Over the next two weeks the biggest daily range, 9.0 ft, comes on October 27, and the smallest, 5.2 ft, today. Looking a year ahead, predictions peak at 8.9 ft on October 1 and bottom out at −1.8 ft on January 23.
Tides here are worked out from the reference station at Charleston, Cooper River Entrance, with NOAA time and height corrections. Times are good for planning, but local wind can shift them. NOAA measured the tide here from 1977 to 1978 to set up these predictions. The nearest other station is Toogoodoo Creek, 3 mi away, where high tide comes about 20 min earlier. For tidal currents, see Wadmalaw Island, Wadmalaw River entrance.
Predictions are based on Charleston, Cooper River Entrance.
