About the tides at Alligator Bayou

Alligator Bayou usually gets one high and one low tide a day, known as a diurnal tide. The pattern follows the reference station at Pensacola, Pensacola Bay. The mean range is small, about 1.3 ft, so wind and pressure can matter as much as the tide itself. The next spring tides peak on October 26, with a range of 1.7 ft. Neap tides follow on October 22, when the range shrinks to 0.4 ft. In the next 12 months the highest predicted tide here is 2.1 ft on October 3, and the lowest is −1.0 ft on January 21.

Alligator Bayou is a subordinate station. NOAA predicts its tides by adjusting Pensacola, Pensacola Bay: highs come about 47 min and lows about 70 min earlier than there.
