About the tides at Amityville

Amityville has a semidiurnal tide: two highs and two lows of similar height each day, about 12 hours and 25 minutes apart. The pattern follows the reference station at Sandy Hook. Water here rises and falls only about 1.2 ft on an average day. A strong onshore wind can push levels above the prediction. That is smaller than most New York stations on this site. Over the next two weeks the biggest daily range, 1.7 ft, comes on October 27, and the smallest, 0.7 ft, on Monday. Looking a year ahead, predictions peak at 1.7 ft on August 2 and bottom out at −0.3 ft on January 23.
