About the tides at Ballantynes Cove

This is a mixed-tide station. Some days bring a deep low and a shallow low, and a few days have only one of each. The average range is about 0.63 m. Spring tides add a little more at both ends. That is smaller than most Nova Scotia stations on this site. The next spring tides peak on October 29, with a range of 1.36 m. Neap tides follow on Wednesday, when the range shrinks to 0.57 m.

This is a prediction station. CHS calculates its tides from past measurements at this spot, but there is no live gauge today. It was established in 1958. The nearest other station is Cribbeans Point, 12 km away, where high tide comes about 11 min later. Canadian tide heights use chart datum, a level set low on purpose. Negative heights are uncommon.
