About the tides at Bar Harbor
Expect two roughly equal high tides a day at Frenchman Bay, each arriving about 50 minutes later than the day before. Bar Harbor sees a mean range of about 10.6 ft. Low tide can expose a wide area, and the return is fast. From the average lower low to the average higher high, the difference is 11.4 ft. Looking a year ahead, predictions peak at 13.2 ft on August 4 and bottom out at −1.9 ft on January 23.
A live NOAA gauge measures the water here, and predictions are calculated from this station's own records. It also reports water temperature, wind and air pressure. It was established in 1947. The nearest other station is Winter Harbor, 6 mi away.
Tide predictions and water levels from NOAA CO-OPS. For planning only, not for navigation. Real water levels can differ because of wind, air pressure and river flow. Always check conditions on site.
