About the tides at Winter Harbor
Winter Harbor has a semidiurnal tide: two highs and two lows of similar height each day, about 12 hours and 25 minutes apart. The pattern follows the reference station at Bar Harbor, Frenchman Bay. The range is large, about 9.6 ft on average. Flats and bars appear and vanish quickly, so keep an eye on the time. In the next 12 months the highest predicted tide here is 12.5 ft on August 4, and the lowest is −1.8 ft on January 23.
Winter Harbor is a subordinate station. NOAA predicts its tides by adjusting Bar Harbor, Frenchman Bay: highs come about 1 min earlier and lows about 10 min later than there. The nearest other station is Prospect Harbor, 3 mi away.
Predictions are based on Bar Harbor, Frenchman Bay.
