About the tides at Barnegat Inlet

Barnegat Inlet has a mixed tide. The two daily highs, and especially the two lows, can differ a lot in height. On a typical day the water moves about 2.2 ft between high and low. That is smaller than most New Jersey stations on this site. From the average lower low to the average higher high, the difference is 2.5 ft. Over the next two weeks the biggest daily range, 3.1 ft, comes on Sunday, and the smallest, 1.8 ft, on October 18. Looking a year ahead, predictions peak at 3.2 ft on October 27 and bottom out at −0.8 ft on January 23.
