About the tides at Island Beach, Sedge Islands
Tides here follow a regular twice-daily rhythm. The two daily highs usually differ by only 0.0 ft. The pattern follows the reference station at Sandy Hook, Fort Hancock. The mean range is small, about 0.3 ft, so wind and pressure can matter as much as the tide itself. That is smaller than most New Jersey stations on this site. The next spring tides peak on Saturday, with a range of 0.4 ft. Neap tides follow on October 18, when the range shrinks to 0.2 ft. In the next 12 months the highest predicted tide here is 0.4 ft on August 2, and the lowest is −0.1 ft on January 23.
Island Beach, Sedge Islands is a subordinate station. NOAA predicts its tides by adjusting Sandy Hook, Fort Hancock: highs come about 180 min and lows about 236 min later than there.
