About the tides at Bay Center

Bay Center has a mixed tide. The two daily highs, and especially the two lows, can differ a lot in height. The pattern follows the reference station at Toke Point, Willapa Bay. With a mean range of about 7.1 ft, the shoreline here changes a lot between high and low water. From the average lower low to the average higher high, the difference is 9.2 ft. Over the next two weeks the biggest daily range, 10.6 ft, comes today, and the smallest, 3.8 ft, on Friday. Looking a year ahead, predictions peak at 11.7 ft on December 24 and bottom out at −2.9 ft on July 5.

Tides here are worked out from the reference station at Toke Point, Willapa Bay, with NOAA time and height corrections. Times are good for planning, but local wind can shift them. NOAA measured the tide here from 1922 to 1982 to set up these predictions. The nearest other station is Palix River, 3 mi away, where high tide comes about 16 min later.
