About the tides at Bayou BonFouca

Tides at Rt. 433, Bayou Bonfouca are mostly diurnal: one rise and one fall a day, with a slow change between them. The pattern follows the reference station at South Pass. The mean range is small, about 0.5 ft, so wind and pressure can matter as much as the tide itself. That is smaller than most Louisiana stations on this site. The next spring tides peak on October 30, with a range of 1.0 ft. Neap tides follow on Friday, when the range shrinks to 0.1 ft. In the next 12 months the highest predicted tide here is 0.9 ft on October 30, and the lowest is −0.5 ft on January 20.

Bayou BonFouca is a subordinate station. NOAA predicts its tides by adjusting South Pass: highs come about 672 min and lows about 691 min later than there. NOAA measured the tide here from 1982 to 1988 to set up these predictions. The nearest other station is The Rigolets, 8 mi away, where high tide comes about 5 h 17 m earlier.
