About the tides at Bear Cove, Kachemak Bay
Tides here follow a regular twice-daily rhythm. The two daily highs usually differ by only 1.5 ft. The tide range here is very large, about 16.2 ft on average. Water can come in faster than you can walk across flats. Check the time before you go out. That is larger than most Alaska stations on this site. From the average lower low to the average higher high, the difference is 18.6 ft. The next spring tides peak on October 27, with a range of 27.2 ft. Neap tides follow today, when the range shrinks to 9.6 ft. In the next 12 months the highest predicted tide here is 22.8 ft on September 2, and the lowest is −5.6 ft on December 24.
