About the tides at Homer
Tides here follow a regular twice-daily rhythm. The two daily highs usually differ by only 1.4 ft. Homer sees a mean range of about 15.9 ft. Low tide can expose a wide area, and the return is fast. That is larger than most Alaska stations on this site. From the average lower low to the average higher high, the difference is 18.4 ft. Over the next two weeks the biggest daily range, 23.9 ft, comes on Sunday, and the smallest, 11.5 ft, on October 17. Looking a year ahead, predictions peak at 22.6 ft on November 25 and bottom out at −5.3 ft on July 5.
