About the tides at Tutka Bay

Tides here follow a regular twice-daily rhythm. The two daily highs usually differ by only 1.5 ft. The pattern follows the reference station at Seldovia, Cook Inlet. The tide range here is very large, about 15.4 ft on average. Water can come in faster than you can walk across flats. Check the time before you go out. That is larger than most Alaska stations on this site. The next spring tides peak today, with a range of 23.7 ft. Neap tides follow on October 19, when the range shrinks to 7.8 ft. In the next 12 months the highest predicted tide here is 22.5 ft on January 23, and the lowest is −5.4 ft on July 5.
