About the tides at Big Lagoon

Tides at Big Lagoon are mostly diurnal: one rise and one fall a day, with a slow change between them. The mean range is small, about 1.0 ft, so wind and pressure can matter as much as the tide itself. That is smaller than most Florida stations on this site. In the next 12 months the highest predicted tide here is 1.7 ft on October 2, and the lowest is −0.9 ft on January 20.

This is a prediction station. NOAA calculates its tides from past measurements at this spot, but there is no live gauge today. NOAA measured the tide here from 1977 to 1994 to set up these predictions. The nearest other station is Fort McRee Breakwater, 3 mi away, where high tide comes about 39 min earlier. For tidal currents, see Pensacola Bay entrance, midchannel.

Tide predictions and water levels from NOAA CO-OPS. For planning only, not for navigation. Real water levels can differ because of wind, air pressure and river flow. Always check conditions on site.
