About the tides at Bird Island

Bird Island has a mixed tide. The two daily highs, and especially the two lows, can differ a lot in height. On a typical day the water moves about 5.0 ft between high and low. That is smaller than most Alaska stations on this site. From the average lower low to the average higher high, the difference is 7.0 ft. Over the next two weeks the biggest daily range, 10.1 ft, comes on October 27, and the smallest, 3.9 ft, on October 30. Looking a year ahead, predictions peak at 9.2 ft on December 24 and bottom out at −2.6 ft on July 4.
