About the tides at Branford

Tides here follow a regular twice-daily rhythm. The two daily highs usually differ by only 0.5 ft. The pattern follows the reference station at Bridgeport, Bridgeport Harbor. With a mean range of about 5.8 ft, the shoreline here changes a lot between high and low water. That is larger than most Connecticut stations on this site. From the average lower low to the average higher high, the difference is 6.4 ft. Looking a year ahead, predictions peak at 7.3 ft on September 2 and bottom out at −1.1 ft on January 23.

Tides here are worked out from the reference station at Bridgeport, Bridgeport Harbor, with NOAA time and height corrections. Times are good for planning, but local wind can shift them. NOAA measured the tide here in 1989 to set up these predictions. The nearest other station is Lighthouse Point, 5 mi away. For tidal currents, see Branford Reef, 1.5 miles southwest of.

Predictions are based on Bridgeport, Bridgeport Harbor.

Tide predictions and water levels from NOAA CO-OPS. For planning only, not for navigation. Real water levels can differ because of wind, air pressure and river flow. Always check conditions on site.
