About the tides at Lighthouse Point
Expect two roughly equal high tides a day at New Haven Harbor, each arriving about 50 minutes later than the day before. The pattern follows the reference station at Bridgeport, Bridgeport Harbor. The range is large, about 6.1 ft on average. Flats and bars appear and vanish quickly, so keep an eye on the time. That is larger than most Connecticut stations on this site. From the average lower low to the average higher high, the difference is 6.7 ft. In the next 12 months the highest predicted tide here is 7.6 ft on September 2, and the lowest is −1.1 ft on January 23.
Lighthouse Point is a subordinate station. NOAA predicts its tides by adjusting Bridgeport, Bridgeport Harbor: highs come about 4 min and lows about 7 min earlier than there.
