About the tides at Bucksport
This is a mixed-tide station. Some days bring a deep low and a shallow low, and a few days have only one of each. The pattern follows the reference station at HUMBOLDT BAY (North Spit). The average range is about 5.0 ft. Spring tides add a little more at both ends. That is larger than most California stations on this site. From the average lower low to the average higher high, the difference is 7.0 ft. The next spring tides peak today, with a range of 8.1 ft. Neap tides follow on Saturday, when the range shrinks to 3.0 ft.
Bucksport is a subordinate station. NOAA predicts its tides by adjusting HUMBOLDT BAY (North Spit): highs come about 17 min and lows about 16 min later than there. NOAA measured the tide here from 1977 to 1980 to set up these predictions. The nearest other station is Humboldt Bay (North Spit), 1 mi away, where high tide comes about 17 min earlier.
