About the tides at Camp Ellis

Expect two roughly equal high tides a day at Saco River, each arriving about 50 minutes later than the day before. With a mean range of about 8.9 ft, the shoreline here changes a lot between high and low water. From the average lower low to the average higher high, the difference is 9.7 ft. Over the next two weeks the biggest daily range, 11.0 ft, comes on October 26, and the smallest, 5.9 ft, on Sunday. Looking a year ahead, predictions peak at 11.3 ft on December 25 and bottom out at −1.5 ft on January 23.

Predictions for Camp Ellis come from this station's own tide records. There is no live sensor, so the table shows forecast only. NOAA measured the tide here in 1991 to set up these predictions. The nearest other station is Biddeford, 4 mi away, where high tide comes about 16 min later. For tidal currents, see Saco River Entrance.
