About the tides at Cap Pelé

Cap Pelé has a semidiurnal tide: two highs and two lows of similar height each day, about 12 hours and 25 minutes apart. The mean range is small, about 0.55 m, so wind and pressure can matter as much as the tide itself. That is smaller than most New Brunswick stations on this site. The next spring tides peak on Wednesday, with a range of 1.19 m. Neap tides follow on October 23, when the range shrinks to 0.33 m.

This is a prediction station. CHS calculates its tides from past measurements at this spot, but there is no live gauge today. The nearest other station is Pointe-du-Chêne, 21 km away, where high tide comes about 9 min later. Canadian tide heights use chart datum, a level set low on purpose. Negative heights are uncommon.
