About the tides at Cape Charles Harbor

Cape Charles Harbor has a mixed tide. The two daily highs, and especially the two lows, can differ a lot in height. The pattern follows the reference station at Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel. The average range is about 2.1 ft. Spring tides add a little more at both ends. The next spring tides peak on October 27, with a range of 3.3 ft. Neap tides follow today, when the range shrinks to 1.6 ft. In the next 12 months the highest predicted tide here is 3.3 ft on September 30, and the lowest is −0.8 ft on January 23.
